Their technology aims to provide predictive analysis of physical assets for customers, enabling them to better predict problems before they occur and prescribe proper solutions. Our design opportunity was to develop a new visual identity in alignment with brand strategy. Our design challenge was to visually balance the expression attributes—wise, supportive, innovative, and catalytic—into a dynamic system with a tech-forward yet approachable feel differentiating our client from leading competitors.&nbsp; We leveraged the concept of “focal point” in our design approach, visually exploring the ways in which a single point can guide, connect, and attune attention. The color palette is grounded in stark, bold and serious colors with small intentional bright additions that support with energy and optimism. The brand’s photographic style balances desaturated technical and environmental photography with slightly warmer human photography. Driven by bold simplicity, the final wordmark and brand motif motion design reinforces the dynamism of a single point revealing obscured layers of complexity. Packaging and Signal Snowboards teamed up with legendary skate shoes, apparel, and accessories brand, Vans. Together they created a limited edition, cardboard sneaker stressed tested by world renound skate superstars Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi, and Lizzie Armanto. The creative challenge was to craft a design system that seamlessly blended the playful, colorful, and imaginative essence of the Ernest brand with the premium, high-energy action photography that highlights the craftsmanship of the Van’s product and the athleticism of its skaters. They came to Liquid Agency looking for an update to their visual identity that would reflect the craft and sophistocated beauty of their products. Our team developed a new color strategy, brand photography direction, elevated typography system, and a set of bespoke, line-drawn motifs and collages to more holistically represent the context, functionality, and versitility of their tools.Each motif has an organic, hand-drawn quality and uses strokes made of a single, consistent weight. Motifs depict objects that are usually characterized by distinctly recognizable forms and textures, creating a unique, ownable visual device. Each motif applies to a specific tier of product: Everyday Carry, Getting Things Done, or Pursuing Adventure. The brand collage is a proprietary device to help paint a vivid member profile of someone in the knife community and depict how a knife may highlight different dimensions of their personality and lifestyle. Their team seeks to understand, reveal, and empower their clients to identify real opportunities that generate, grow, and measure value. We were asked to develop a visual design system for Avasta driven by simplicity, revelation, and measurement. We simplified both their color palette and typographic systems with intention and candid clarity. The concept of shifting light frequencies and intensity as a visual representation of illumination of new, everchanging information resonated strongly with the client and thus the dynamic gradient motifs were born. This colab between Ernest Packaging Solutions and Signal is a musical offshoot of Carboard Chaos, a series in which the teams build usable, mind blowing cardboard creations. Inspired by the venue’s European-style architecture, the die-cut invitations and menus were thoughtfully designed to mirror the aesthetic of the space. I was asked to design a unique look and feel for the outdoorsy nonprofit fundraiser. Inspired by the colors and illustrations of retro parks badges, I developed a logo and assets OR could translate to print and digital platforms in order to promote the event.
